Customize Client Gallery Design: What You Can Set and What Is Fixed
A studio sets its logo, two colours, a heading font and a body font once, then chooses light or dark and a welcome note on each gallery. There is no theme picker, no cover layout and no grid choice.

Design controls are easy to overrate before you sign up and easy to underuse after.
This guide lists every design setting a studio has on clientgallery.io, where each one lives, and what it changes on the client's page.
It also lists what you cannot change, because that list decides whether the product fits you at all.
The short version: your brand is set once, at account level, and applies to every gallery. Each gallery then gets its own light or dark setting, its own welcome note and its own switches. The layout itself is fixed.
Two neighbouring topics have their own pages. The studio subdomain and the absence of any platform badge are covered in the white label client gallery guide. Using one gallery as a long-term home for a repeat client is covered in the branded client portal guide.
Two levels: the account and the gallery
Design settings sit in two places.
The account level is the Settings page in the studio. Everything there is your brand, and it applies to every gallery you publish.
The gallery level is the page where you manage one gallery. Everything there is about that gallery only.
There is no third level. You cannot override the brand fonts or colours for one gallery.
| Level | Where | What you set there |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Settings | Studio name, logo, primary and secondary colours, heading and body font rows, info block, subdomain |
| Gallery | The gallery's own page in the studio | Light or dark for the client, welcome note, client page switches, feature switches |
Account-level settings, one by one
| Setting | What it changes | Limits |
|---|---|---|
| Studio name | The name shown with your logo | Up to 80 characters |
| Logo | Shown full width at the top of every gallery, at its real proportions | PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF or AVIF |
| Primary colour | Buttons and links | One colour, adjusted to stay readable on the current theme |
| Secondary colour | Stars and hearts | One colour, adjusted to stay readable on the current theme |
| Heading font row | Typeface, size, weight and colour of headings | One of ten typefaces; size 12 to 72; weight 300 to 800 |
| Body font row | Typeface, size, weight and colour of body text | One of ten typefaces; size 10 to 28; weight 300 to 800 |
| Info block | Rich text shown under the logo on every gallery | One block for the whole account |
The logo. It runs the full width of the top of the page and keeps its own shape. A wide logo reads well there. A tall, narrow mark takes more of the screen than you might expect, so check it on a phone. SVG is not on the accepted list, so export a PNG.
The two colours. The primary colour is the one clients press, since it tints buttons and links. The secondary colour marks what they choose, since it colours stars and hearts. The page adjusts both so they stay readable on the theme in use. That means the exact shade a client sees can differ slightly between light and dark.
The info block. It is the account-wide place for text that belongs on every gallery. Think of a short studio line, contact details or a note about how to reach you. Anything specific to one client belongs in that gallery's welcome note instead.
Settings also holds a default light or dark state. Do not rely on it to set a particular gallery. The setting that decides what a client sees is the one on each gallery, described below.
The ten typefaces
Both font rows choose from the same list. Inter is the default.
| Typeface | Family |
|---|---|
| Inter (default) | Sans-serif |
| Playfair Display | Serif |
| Cormorant Garamond | Serif |
| Montserrat | Sans-serif |
| Poppins | Sans-serif |
| Lora | Serif |
| Raleway | Sans-serif |
| Libre Baskerville | Serif |
| Josefin Sans | Sans-serif |
| JetBrains Mono | Monospace |
You cannot upload your own font file. If your studio identity uses a typeface outside this list, pick the closest match for headings and keep the body simple.
A classic pairing is a serif for headings and a sans-serif for body text. Playfair Display or Cormorant Garamond over Inter is one example. A single sans-serif for both rows, at two different weights, is another.
Keep body text readable on a phone. A light weight at a small size looks elegant on a studio monitor and thin on a phone in daylight.
Per-gallery settings
Each gallery has its own settings on top of the account brand.
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Client sees | Opens the gallery in light or dark | Chosen per gallery |
| Welcome note | A message to this client, shown under the gallery title | Written per gallery |
| Share button | Client page switch | On |
| Intro line | Client page switch | On |
| Slideshow button | Client page switch | On |
| Downloads, Picks, Social crops, Password | Feature switches | Set per gallery |
| Face AI search | Feature switch | Off |
| Comments, Color labels | Feature switches | Off (opt-in) |
Light or dark. Choose the theme that suits the work. Dark often suits moody or evening sets, and light suits bright, airy ones. The client can still flip the page between light and dark, and their choice is remembered on that device. So your setting is the first impression, not a lock.
The welcome note. This is the most personal design element you have. Use it to greet the client by name, say what the gallery is for, and tell them what to do next.
The client page switches. Share button, Intro line and Slideshow button are all on by default. Turning one off removes that element from this gallery's page. A private set might drop the share button, for example.
The feature switches change what the client can do rather than how the page looks, so they are only listed here.
What you cannot change
This list matters as much as the one above.
| Not available | What happens instead |
|---|---|
| Theme or template picker | Every gallery uses the same page design, dressed in your brand |
| Cover photo or cover layout | The page opens with your logo, not a chosen cover image |
| Grid style choice | Photos always sit in a masonry grid of 2, 3 or 4 columns, set by the screen width |
| Per-gallery fonts or colours | Fonts and colours are account-wide and apply to every gallery |
| Your own font file or code | You choose from the ten typefaces above |
Account-wide branding has one practical consequence. A studio that runs two brands with different looks cannot give each its own design inside one account.
The fixed grid has a practical upside. The column count follows the screen, so the page adapts to a phone without any setting. What that looks like for a client is covered in the guide to client galleries on a phone.
Who should choose a different platform
Some studios should not buy this for its design.
- A studio that wants to pick a different layout or cover design for each gallery.
- A studio whose brand depends on a typeface that is not in the list of ten.
- A studio that runs two brands and wants both in one account.
- A studio that wants galleries on a domain it owns, rather than on its own subdomain. That limit is explained in the own-domain guide.
If one of those describes you, look for a platform that sells that control. Confirm it is on the plan you would actually pay for.
If you want your logo, your colours and your type on a clean page, the controls here are enough. They cost nothing extra, because there is one plan: $10 a month or $100 a year.
Setting it up, in order
- Open Settings and enter your studio name.
- Upload your logo as a PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF or AVIF file.
- Pick a primary colour for buttons and links.
- Pick a secondary colour for stars and hearts.
- Set the heading row: typeface, size, weight and colour.
- Set the body row the same way, with readability first.
- Write the info block you want under the logo on every gallery.
- Create a test gallery and set Client sees to light.
- Open the client link on a phone and on a computer.
- Flip the page to dark and check the logo, the colours and the text again.
Step ten catches a problem that is easy to miss. A dark logo on a transparent background can disappear on a dark page, so check it in both themes before a client does.
After that, the brand carries over to every new gallery. For each gallery you only choose light or dark, write the welcome note and set the switches.

Frequently asked
Can I change the fonts in my client gallery?
Yes. Settings has two font rows, one for headings and one for body text. Each row picks one of ten typefaces, with Inter as the default, plus a size, a weight from 300 to 800 and a colour. The choice applies to every gallery in the account.
Which colours can I set?
Two. The primary colour tints buttons and links. The secondary colour colours the stars and hearts clients use to pick. Both are adjusted so they stay readable on the light or dark theme in use.
Can a gallery have its own fonts or colours?
No. Fonts, colours, the logo and the info block are account-wide and apply to every gallery. Per gallery you set light or dark, the welcome note and the switches.
Can clients switch between light and dark?
Yes. You choose whether each gallery opens in light or dark, and the client can flip it. Their choice is remembered on that device.
Is there a theme picker or a cover photo layout?
No. There is no theme or template picker, no cover photo or cover layout, and no grid style choice. Photos always sit in a masonry grid of 2, 3 or 4 columns depending on screen width.
What logo file types are accepted?
PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF and AVIF. SVG is not on the list, so export a PNG. The logo is shown full width at the top of every gallery at its real proportions.
Does customising the design cost extra?
No. There is one plan, $10 a month or $100 a year, and every design setting on this page is part of it.
