How Much Does Pixieset Actually Cost per Month?

The five tiers in real dollars, the billing rules that change the monthly number, the 15% commission on the free plan, and what a year costs for three kinds of studio.

Updated September 2026

The pricing page answers with a range: 0 $ to 50 $ a month. The honest answer depends on four things the page does not add up for you. Which tier your storage pushes you onto. Whether you pay month by month or a year up front. What the free plan takes from print sales. And what happens to the money when you leave.

This page walks that arithmetic with figures from Pixieset's own pricing page, help center and Terms, fetched on 2 September 2026, then prices a year for three studios against clientgallery.io's single plan. Every number is listed in the Sources section at the end, and derived figures show their derivation.

The five tiers and what each buys

Pixieset's Client Gallery has five tiers. For each paid tier the pricing page prints two numbers: a monthly rate when you pay for a year up front, and a higher rate when you pay monthly. The pricing page prints the two figures side by side. The twelve-month columns below are those rates multiplied by twelve.

TierPer month, paid annuallyPer month, paid monthlyTwelve months, annualTwelve months, monthlyStorageWhat the page highlights
Free0 $0 $0 $0 $3 GBUnlimited galleries, up to 3 mobile apps, 15% commission fee on store sales

Plus16 $20 $192 $240 $100 GBTen times the storage of Basic
Pro24 $30 $288 $360 $1 TBUpload RAW photos, bulk share collections
Ultimate40 $50 $480 $600 $Unlimited photosUpload up to 1,000 GB of RAW photos

The storage steps are tenfold (10 GB, 100 GB, 1 TB) while the price steps are smaller, so the ladder rewards buying more than you need today. The catch is in the next three sections: the annual figure is a yearly charge, storage is cumulative, and unlimited has a clause.

The annual rate is a monthly number on a yearly charge

The 8 $ on the Basic card is a year's price divided by twelve, not what leaves your account each month. The help center sets out the mechanics: yearly plans renew once per year on their original purchase date, each yearly subscription is billed separately, and yearly plans offer up to a 20% discount compared to the monthly rate. On Client Gallery the discount is 20% at every tier: 8 against 10, 16 against 20, 24 against 30, 40 against 50.

The other half of the rule is what happens when you stop. You can cancel at any time, but cancelling fully ends the subscription and removes access to that product, and refunds are not issued for account cancellations. The cheaper annual rate is therefore a commitment. If you pay 288 $ for a year of Pro in January and move in April, the remaining months are not returned. If you are not sure you will stay, the monthly rate is the honest comparison.

What the free plan costs

Free is 3 GB of storage, unlimited galleries and up to 3 mobile apps, and it costs 0 $ as long as you sell nothing through the store. The moment a client buys a print, all orders received on the Free plan are subject to a 15% commission fee. The help center is specific about the base: the fee is charged on the subtotal before shipping, taxes or discounts are applied. If an order has a subtotal of 100 $ and you apply a 20 $ coupon, the commission is 15 $, not 12 $. The discount comes out of your share, not Pixieset's.

Three other things sit behind the first paid tier. Pixieset's branding can be hidden only while on an upgraded Client Gallery plan, so a free gallery carries their name. High-resolution downloads at 3600px or original resolution are listed as available on upgraded plans, which leaves the free tier without an original-resolution download. And commission-free sales start at Basic. A studio that delivers files and wants clients to download originals is on Basic at minimum: 96 $ a year paid annually, or 120 $ paid monthly.

Storage is a pool, not a yearly allowance

This is the piece that moves studios up the ladder. The help center says all uploads count toward your account's available storage, and that the amount you can upload depends on your remaining storage space and your subscription plan. Storage is a total, not a per-year budget: last season's weddings still occupy space this season. To stay on a tier you either delete older collections, which the help center offers as the plain alternative, or you upgrade to unlock more storage.

File rules matter too. JPEG and PNG files can be up to 100 MB each. RAW files up to 100 MB can be uploaded on select plans, and the pricing page lists RAW upload on Pro and Ultimate, with Ultimate capped at 1,000 GB of RAW. If RAW delivery is part of your service, Pro at 288 $ a year is the floor.

The fair usage clause

Unlimited photo storage on Ultimate, and unlimited galleries on every tier, sit under section 6 of Pixieset's Terms, last updated 20 March 2026: "We reserve the right to charge additional fees to users who go above the fair usage amount that is determined to be more than 20 GB per collection, and 100 GB of bandwidth per month."

Two ceilings, then: a single collection above 20 GB, and more than 100 GB of bandwidth in a month, either of which can bring additional fees on top of the subscription. The bandwidth figure is monthly, so a busy month is what counts, not the yearly average.

Three studios, one year

Storage decides the tier; billing decides the price. Three profiles, each priced for its first year on the lowest Pixieset tier that holds its uploads, and against clientgallery.io's one plan at 10 $/month or 100 $/year. The clientgallery.io column uses the annual price; month by month it is 120 $ (twelve times 10 $).

StudioUploaded in year oneLowest Pixieset tier that fitsYear one, annual billingYear one, monthly billingclientgallery.io, year one
Portrait studio40 GBPlus (100 GB)192 $240 $100 $
Wedding studio400 GBPro (1 TB)288 $360 $100 $
High-volume studioMore than 1 TBUltimate (unlimited photos)480 $600 $100 $

The portrait studio. 40 GB is four times Basic's 10 GB, so it lands on Plus: 192 $ for the year, or 240 $ month by month. In year two the pool holds 80 GB and Plus still fits. In year three it holds 120 GB, past the 100 GB line, and the choice is Pro at 288 $ or deleting the oldest galleries.

The wedding studio. 400 GB clears Plus in the first season and sits inside Pro's 1 TB, at 288 $ or 360 $. Year two ends at 800 GB, still inside. Year three ends at 1.2 TB, which is Ultimate at 480 $ or 600 $, or deletion. This is also the profile most exposed to the fair usage clause: wedding galleries are large, and clients download them.

The high-volume studio. Past 1 TB the only tier is Ultimate: 480 $ paid annually, 600 $ paid monthly. Unlimited photo storage is what you are buying, with RAW upload up to 1,000 GB. The fair usage clause still applies to each collection and to monthly bandwidth.

On clientgallery.io all three studios pay the same: 100 $ a year, or 10 $/month with no annual commitment, because there are no storage tiers. Galleries, photos and clients are unlimited under fair use, on the studio's own subdomain, with no platform branding on any client-facing page. Fair use in figures: 1,000 photos per gallery and 250 GB of proofs per paid account, which is hundreds of thousands of photos; free accounts hold 5 GB. The gigabyte column does not translate one to one: uploaded photos are browser-compressed proof JPEGs, hosted for as long as the account exists. Full-resolution delivery is a paid feature: you upload a full-resolution ZIP per gallery, it stays live for 3 days per handoff and can be re-uploaded any time, with 100 GB of standing ZIPs per account. Over the first year the gap is 92 $, 188 $ and 380 $ on annual billing, and 120 $, 240 $ and 480 $ on monthly billing. The gap widens in the years the Pixieset pool crosses the next line.

One qualification cuts the other way. clientgallery.io hosts JPEGs. It does not warehouse RAW files or master video, and that is what keeps the price flat. A studio that delivers RAW to clients, or hosts HD video inside the gallery, needs Pro or Ultimate, not this.

When Pixieset earns its price

Be fair to the ladder. A studio that sells prints, albums or wall art through Pixieset's store is on a commission-free paid tier from Basic upward, and print sales can earn back the subscription. Whether they do depends on your print volume, which only you know. That studio is buying a storefront, and clientgallery.io has no print store and no commissions because it has no store at all.

The same holds for capability. RAW upload on Pro and Ultimate, HD video from Basic, bulk sharing on Pro: if those are part of how you work, the higher tiers are buying features, not just gigabytes. This page is for studios that deliver finished JPEG galleries and get paid separately.

Leaving, and what you keep

Two last lines from the help center. Cancelling fully ends the subscription and removes access to that product. And collections are kept "for a period of time before being deleted". It is a period, not permanence, so download your originals before the plan ends, or move the account whole.

clientgallery.io's import reads a Pixieset account from the Pixieset dashboard with one bookmark: every collection, its sets, titles, descriptions, event date, password and photo order, reproduced at full size under your brand. Pixieset is only read, never changed, and no password reaches clientgallery.io. Re-running skips what is already imported, so a migration can run in stages. That makes the switch a cost decision rather than a rebuild; the import page explains the steps, and the guide on exporting your galleries from Pixieset covers keeping your own copy.

Frequently asked

Is Pixieset really free?

The Free plan costs 0 $ and includes 3 GB of storage and unlimited galleries. It carries Pixieset branding, does not include full-resolution downloads, and every store order is subject to a 15% commission on the subtotal before shipping, taxes or discounts. If you sell nothing and stay under 3 GB, it is free.

How much is Pixieset per month if I pay monthly?

10 $ for Basic, 20 $ for Plus, 30 $ for Pro and 50 $ for Ultimate, in US dollars. The lower rates on the pricing page (8 $, 16 $, 24 $ and 40 $ a month) apply only when you pay a full year up front.

Does Pixieset refund the rest of an annual plan if I cancel?

No. The help center states that refunds are not issued for account cancellations. You can cancel at any time, but cancelling ends the subscription and removes access to that product, and the unused months of an annual plan are not returned.

Which Pixieset plan removes the branding?

Any paid Client Gallery plan. The pricing page lists 'Remove Pixieset branding' from Basic, at 8 $/month billed annually or 10 $/month, and the help center says branding can be hidden while on an upgraded plan.

What is Pixieset's fair usage limit?

Section 6 of the Terms reserves the right to charge additional fees to users who go above 20 GB per collection or 100 GB of bandwidth per month. It applies on every tier, including Ultimate's unlimited photo storage.

What happens to my galleries after I cancel Pixieset?

The help center says collections are kept for a period of time before being deleted. Download your originals before the plan ends, or import the whole account into clientgallery.io from the Pixieset dashboard with one bookmark; re-running the import skips what is already there.

How does clientgallery.io's price compare?

One plan, 10 $/month or 100 $/year, with unlimited galleries, photos and clients under fair use, no platform branding, your own subdomain, Face Search and a two-way Lightroom Classic plugin included. It hosts JPEGs only, with no RAW or video warehousing and no print store, which is what keeps the price flat.
