ShootProof Alternative: One Flat Plan Instead of a Storage Ladder and Archive Fees

Start with the honest part. The most common complaint about ShootProof, that a photo counter fills up faster than a business grows, no longer applies. The Professional plan holds 1,000 GB of photos, which is more proof-sized work than most studios will produce in a decade. If a photo cap was the reason you were looking, that reason is gone, and a page that pretended otherwise would be wasting your time.

Two reasons survive, and they are structural rather than temporary.

The first is archiving. ShootProof's help centre states that archiving costs a minimum of 2.99 $ a month for up to 25 GB, then 0.05 $ for each additional GB. On the plan cards, the row headed "Securely store extra photos" reads "Archive for a fee" on Free, Starter, Standard and Professional. Premium is the one plan that reads "Photo archive included", and even there the same card adds "Video archive starting at 2.99 $/mo". So on four of the five plans sold today, and for video on all five, the archive is a separate line that grows with the gigabytes in it.

Archiving also changes what the gallery is. ShootProof's help centre states that an archived gallery becomes static and that archived galleries are not live for client viewing. It also states that to unarchive a gallery you need enough GB of space free in your plan. That is the shape of the trade: the cheap place to keep old work is the place the client cannot reach, and getting it back requires room on the meter.

The second is that a gigabyte meter grows the same way a photo counter did. Delivered galleries do not leave. Last season sits in the pool while this season uploads on top of it, so the plan you signed up on is not the plan you are on later. The steps are bigger now, which buys time, but the direction of travel is the same.

None of this makes ShootProof a bad product. It makes it a metered one with a storefront attached. The question is whether the meter fits how you deliver, and what the alternative gives up to remove it.

The figures below come from ShootProof's plans page, fetched on 23 September 2026, and from its help-centre article on how plans work, which ShootProof updated on 22 September 2026. The two surfaces agree on every figure. The plans page prints the annual rate as a per-month amount and the help article prints the yearly total; the yearly totals are shown here. clientgallery.io is one plan, shown on the last line.

Two footnotes on that table, both of which matter if you are budgeting.

ShootProof's help centre also documents an Advanced plan at 2,000 GB photo and 100 GB video for 51.99 $ a month or 519.99 $ a year, which does not appear on the public plans page. Treat it as a plan the help centre lists rather than one you can pick from the plans page today.

The same help article publishes international prices. In the Canadian column, Starter is C$12 a month or C$120 a year, Standard is C$24 or C$240, Professional is C$36 or C$360, and Premium is C$65 or C$650.

A delivery platform earns its keep long after the delivery. Clients lose files, come back for a print, or ask for the link again before an anniversary. On ShootProof, archiving is priced as its own line on every plan below Premium, and on Premium for video: a floor of 2.99 $ a month for up to 25 GB, then 0.05 $ per GB above it. That is a small line in any single month and a permanent one across a career, because an archive only ever grows.

The bigger cost is not the money. ShootProof states that an archived gallery becomes static and is not live for client viewing, and that unarchiving it requires enough GB free in the plan. Archiving is therefore not a way to keep old work reachable cheaply. It is a way to take old work off the meter, and off the internet, until you make room for it again.

At clientgallery.io there is no archived state to pay for and no offline tier. A gallery delivered in your first month is the same gallery years later, still reachable, with the same one-click download for the client of the whole gallery or any single image. Hosted galleries never expire. What is hosted is the proof JPEGs, browser-compressed on upload and kept for as long as the account exists. Full-resolution delivery is on every plan, free included: you upload a full-resolution ZIP per gallery, it stays live for 3 days per handoff and can be re-uploaded any time, with 100 GB of ZIP uploads a month per account. The flat plan is priced on the assumption that studios keep their work online, and it holds because the service hosts JPEGs and does not warehouse RAW files or master video.

clientgallery.io is one plan: 10 $/month, or 110 $/year, which works out to 9.17 $ a month. Everything is in it:

• Unlimited galleries and clients, up to 500,000 photos, with ceilings of 1,000 photos per gallery and 500,000 photos per paid account; free accounts hold one gallery of up to 1,000 photos. There is no tier to move up to.
• No platform branding on any page a client sees, and galleries on your own subdomain.
• Face Search, so a guest at a large event finds their own photos. The matching runs in the guest's browser and the selfie is never uploaded.
• Sub-galleries: sections inside a gallery, so a wedding can be split into ceremony, portraits and reception under one link, with a jump bar at the top of the client's page.
• A two-way Lightroom Classic plugin: publish proofs from the catalog, then pull the client's picks back in.
• Delivery that stays put. Clients download the whole gallery in one click, or any single image, and hosted galleries never expire.

What it leaves out is just as deliberate. There is no print store and no commission. There are no per-gallery fees and no storage tiers. It hosts JPEGs: no RAW warehousing, no master video. That narrowness is what keeps the price flat. If you need any of the things it leaves out, the next section is written for you.

Stay if any of these is true for your studio:

• You sell prints or products through your galleries. ShootProof has a storefront and takes no commission on any plan, including its free one. clientgallery.io has no store, and will not pretend a flat price replaces a revenue line.
• You want video hosted beside the photos. Every paid ShootProof plan now carries a video allowance, from 20 GB shared on Starter up to 150 GB of video on Premium. This service hosts JPEGs only.
• You want RAW files stored with the galleries. Again, JPEGs only here.
• You use the contracts and invoicing. ShootProof's plan cards list e-signed contracts and invoicing with tipping on every paid plan. There is no equivalent here.

None of those are edge cases. A studio whose ShootProof subscription pays for itself through the storefront should keep the storefront, and the platform comparison says the same about Pixieset and Pic-Time. The flat plan is for photographers who deliver files and proof selections under their own brand, and get paid for the work elsewhere.

This section exists because the old vocabulary is still what people type. Until 23 September 2026, ShootProof plans were metered by the number of photos in the account rather than by gigabytes. Photographers asked what happened when they hit the cap, and the answer shaped how the platform was budgeted.

That era ended. ShootProof's help centre now opens its plans article by stating that plans are billed monthly or yearly and are determined by the amount of GB storage needed. The plans page carries no photo-count column at all. Photo counts survive only as soft estimates printed next to the gigabyte figure, for example a rough photo count beside the 20 GB on Starter, and those estimates are not what you are billed against.

Three practical consequences if you are reading an older comparison:

• The plan names changed. The plans sold today are Free, Starter, Standard, Professional and Premium. Premium is the plan that carries unlimited photo storage.
• Video is now part of the meter. Free is photos only. Starter and Standard share one pool between photo and video. Professional and Premium publish separate photo and video allowances.
• Archiving did not change price, but it did change scope. The rate is still 2.99 $ a month for the first 25 GB and 0.05 $ per GB after that, and video archiving is now charged on Premium as well.

This page does not publish which old plan became which new one. ShootProof took that mapping down, and we do not restate figures we cannot open today.

Be clear about this before you cancel anything. clientgallery.io has a whole-account import for Pixieset. It has nothing equivalent for ShootProof. A move from ShootProof is a rebuild, done one of two ways.

First path: re-publish from Lightroom Classic. If your finished work lives in a Lightroom catalog, the plugin does the rebuilding. Select a shoot and export it; clientgallery.io appears in the Export dialog like any other destination, and the gallery is built, named and password-set by the time the render finishes. Export the same shoot again later and the same gallery updates, with no new link and no duplicate. When the client has chosen, one more command flags the loved photos in your catalog and gathers every pick into a collection, matched by filename. Second path: re-upload the JPEGs. If your finals exist as exported JPEGs on a drive, create the gallery, upload the files, add sub-galleries where the shoot needs them, and send the link. There is nothing more clever than that.

A sensible order: move the galleries clients still open, then the recent ones, then the archive, and run both services side by side until the last active client has the new link. Before you close the old account, make sure you hold every finished JPEG yourself, on disk or in a catalog you can re-render. This page makes no claim about how ShootProof exports your galleries; confirm that on your own account before you cancel.

For context, the two platforms most often weighed against ShootProof also price growth, from their own pricing pages fetched on 2 September 2026 and dated as such in the sources below. Pixieset runs from Basic at 8 $/month billed annually or 10 $ monthly for 10 GB, through Plus at 16 $ or 20 $ for 100 GB and Pro at 24 $ or 30 $ for 1 TB, to Ultimate at 40 $ or 50 $ for unlimited photo storage, in USD, shown in local currency to Canadian visitors. Pic-Time's Advanced plan is 42 $ a month billed annually or 50 $ monthly in US dollars, unlimited with terms applying. ShootProof's Premium, at 600 $ a year, sits above both.
