The Best Client Gallery for Wedding Photographers, Judged by Job

There is no single winner. A wedding gallery has six jobs, and a different platform wins each one. Here is each job, the verdict, and the published rule behind it.

Updated 4 September 2026

Most answers to this question are a ranked list with Pixieset at the top. That is a useful answer only if every wedding photographer wants the same thing, and they do not. A studio that sells 4,000 $ of prints per wedding and a studio that delivers digital files and never touches a print lab are buying two different products.

So this page does not rank platforms. It takes the six jobs a wedding gallery actually has to do, gives a verdict on each, and shows the published rule the verdict rests on. Every figure below comes from the vendor's own pricing page, help center or terms, fetched on 4 September 2026 and listed in the Sources section. Derived figures are labelled as arithmetic. Where a vendor publishes nothing, this page says so instead of guessing.

Job one: deliver a gallery of 800 to 1,200 images without hitting a wall

A full wedding day is the largest single gallery most photographers will ever publish. The meters that stop you differ by vendor: some count photos, some count gigabytes, some count galleries, and two count gigabytes per gallery in a clause that sits in the terms rather than on the pricing page.

PlatformWhat is meteredThe published cap
clientgallery.ioPhotos per gallery, GB per account1,000 photos per gallery, 250 GB of proofs per paid account. Free accounts hold one gallery and 5 GB.
PixiesetStorage only"There is no limit to the number of photos you can upload to a collection. However, all uploads count toward your account's available storage." Tiers are 3, 10, 100 and 1,000 GB, then unlimited on Ultimate. Terms section 6 reserves the right to charge more above 20 GB per collection and 100 GB of bandwidth a month.
Pic-TimeStorage onlyUnlimited galleries on every tier, 10 GB free (3 GB after three months), 20, 100 GB, then unlimited on Advanced. The unlimited tier's fair use is "more than 20GB per gallery and 100 GB of bandwidth per month".
ShootProofPhotos today, GB from 23 September 2026Today: 100, 1,500, 5,000, 25,000 photos, then unlimited. From 23 September 2026: 3, 20, 100, 1,000, 2,000 GB, then unlimited photo storage. Prices do not change.
CloudSpotGalleries and storageUp to 3 active galleries on Free (5 GB), up to 15 on Entry (15 GB), unlimited from Lite (100 GB) upward.
picdropGalleries and storage3 galleries and 1 GB on Free, unlimited galleries from Pro (500 GB) upward.

Verdict. For a single 1,200 image gallery delivered in one piece, Pixieset and Pic-Time win, because neither counts photos at all. ShootProof's 5,000 photo plan clears it today, and its 100 GB Standard plan clears it from 23 September 2026. CloudSpot clears it from Lite upward.

We do not win this one, and here is the honest version. clientgallery.io caps a gallery at 1,000 photos. A 1,200 image wedding does not fit in one gallery here. The Lightroom plugin says so before it fails and tells you to start a second one. The practical answer is to publish the day as two galleries, which most wedding photographers already do by moment, for example getting ready and portraits in one and ceremony and reception in the other. If you need one unbroken 1,200 image link and will not split it, buy Pixieset or Pic-Time. That is a real constraint, not a rounding error.

Two things are worth noticing about the per-gallery clauses. Pixieset's terms and Pic-Time's fair-use article land on the same two numbers, 20 GB per collection or gallery and 100 GB of bandwidth a month, and both restrict the plans to individual photographers rather than multi-photographer studios. Arithmetic on that figure: 20 GB spread over 1,200 images is about 17 MB per image, so a photographer uploading full-size JPEGs is usually inside it and a photographer uploading large files is not. Our own account meter reads differently because we host browser-compressed proof JPEGs of about 0.6 MB each. Arithmetic on that figure: 1,200 proofs is roughly 0.7 GB, and a 250 GB account is hundreds of thousands of proofs.

Job two: the gallery still works two years later

This is the job wedding photographers care about most and the one the listicles skip. Couples come back at the first anniversary, when a parent asks for a photo, when a laptop dies. The relevant question is not how much storage a plan includes. It is what happens to a delivered wedding gallery when the account goes over its cap, gets downgraded, or gets cancelled. Four vendors publish that rule. One does not.

PlatformWhat is published about going over the cap
Pic-TimeOn a drop to Free, "any galleries above that limit will be permanently deleted 1 week after the plan changes (oldest galleries first)." On a paid downgrade the window is 45 days, oldest first. Recovery: "No. If the gallery has been purged for over 1 week, the high res photos cannot be restored."
CloudSpot"When your account moves to our Free plan at your next renewal, you will have a maximum storage limit of 5 GB. If you have over 5 GB stored on your account at this time, our system will remove all data from your account."
PASS"When your account exceeds its storage limit, two things happen: All new uploads are blocked. After 30 days, galleries will be deleted (oldest first) until your account is within its storage limit." On a downgrade the window shortens to one week.
picdropNothing is deleted, but access stops: files and galleries above the limit "can no longer be downloaded or accessed by third parties, such as your clients". picdrop states that everything uploaded is preserved.
ShootProofThe published remedy for a full account is archiving, at "a minimum monthly charge of $2.99 for up to 25 GB of storage" then $0.05 per additional GB, included on the top plan. Archiving changes what the couple sees: "Archived galleries are not live for client viewing."
PixiesetNo rule is published either way. Pixieset documents that uploading stops and that you can "delete collections/photos/videos to free up space or upgrade", and that deletion "is permanent". It never states whether already delivered galleries stay viewable when you are over the limit or after a downgrade.
clientgallery.ioHosted galleries never expire. Delivered proofs stay live for as long as the account exists. There is one plan, so there is no downgrade that can put you over a smaller cap.

Verdict. On this job the answer is clientgallery.io, and the reason is structural rather than generous. A platform with a storage ladder has to define what happens when you fall down it, and every vendor that has defined it has defined it against the couple: deletion at Pic-Time, CloudSpot and PASS, loss of client access at picdrop, a static non-live gallery at ShootProof. A platform with one flat plan and no tiers has no ladder to fall down.

Pixieset deserves a fair hearing here. While you are subscribed and under your limit, Pixieset states that collections "stay online for as long as you have an active subscription, or until you delete them yourself; they do not expire". That is a real commitment for an active subscriber. What is missing is the over-quota and downgrade case, and its terms are harsher than its help center: on cancellation "the contents of your account may be removed immediately", with no number of days anywhere. Silence is not a promise in either direction, so treat it as unknown rather than safe.

Job three: the client's picks land in your edit queue

A wedding couple picking album images or parent selects produces a list. What matters is the shape that list arrives in. If it arrives as text, you retype or paste it. If it arrives as catalog metadata, you filter and start editing.

PlatformWhat comes back, and on which tier
clientgallery.ioLibrary, Plug-in Extras, Import ClientGallery Picks. Matched by filename against the catalog. Likes become 3 stars, loves become 5 stars flagged as Picks, and the client's red, yellow, green, blue and purple labels become Lightroom colour labels. Everything found is gathered into a collection named after the gallery. Re-runnable at any time. Included in the one plan.
Pic-Time"Sync client selections" is listed on Professional and Advanced only, alongside importing project structure and batch rename. Not on Free or Beginner.
PixiesetThe Lightroom Copy List: a filename list you paste into Lightroom's Find field with "Any Searchable Field" and "Contains". The plugin itself is upload only.
CloudSpotThe Lightroom plugin is "a one-way sync"; collections uploaded directly to CloudSpot are not visible in Lightroom.
picdrop"Export selections to Lightroom, Capture One, etc." on every plan, as a filename list you filter on.

Verdict, split. If you are already paying for Pic-Time Professional or Advanced, Pic-Time wins this job on your existing bill: selection sync is a documented feature of those tiers, and you should not add a second tool to get it. Below those tiers Pic-Time does not sync selections at all, and the win moves to clientgallery.io, where picks return as stars, a Pick flag, colour labels and a named collection at 10 $ a month with no tier to climb.

Pixieset's copy list deserves credit rather than mockery. It is free, it takes about two minutes, and for a photographer with tidy filenames and no virtual copies it is perfectly serviceable. Pixieset also documents its own two failure modes. The Contains filter over-selects: "If you are searching for IMG_1, for example, IMG_101 might come up as well." And virtual copies are missed silently: "If you use virtual copies when editing images, and export these virtual copies, the Lightroom Copy List will not pull the virtual copies up." Both matter more at wedding volume than at portrait volume, because a 60 image album selection out of 1,200 frames is exactly where a silent miss costs you. Our Lightroom plugin page covers the two-way version of this workflow.

Job four: the full-resolution files reach the couple

Wedding delivery has two halves that get confused with each other: the browsable gallery, and the full-resolution files the couple keeps. Different platforms solve them differently, and this is the job where you should read our answer carefully before buying.

How clientgallery.io does it. The gallery holds browser-compressed proof JPEGs of about 0.6 MB each, hosted for as long as the account exists. Full-resolution delivery is a separate paid feature and it is a handoff, not a warehouse: you upload one full-resolution ZIP per gallery, it stays live for three days per handoff, and you can re-upload it any time, with 100 GB of standing ZIPs on the account. That is deliberately not the same product as a platform that keeps every original online permanently. If the couple comes back in a year for the full-size files, you re-upload the ZIP and send a fresh link. If you want originals to sit on the platform untouched for years without you doing anything, we are not that, and you should not read this page as claiming otherwise.

How Pixieset does it. Pixieset stores the original file and serves resized display versions from it. Client downloads come in three web sizes at 640, 1024 and 2048 pixels wide, with 3600 pixel and original resolution available on upgraded plans, which start at Basic. If permanent original-resolution downloads without a re-upload step are your requirement, Pixieset is the straightforward buy.

Two limits worth knowing elsewhere. ShootProof accepts JPEG only, up to 50 MB per file. CloudSpot's free plan caps image downloads at 2048 pixels on the longest edge and expires direct download links after seven days.

Verdict. Pixieset on any paid tier, for permanent original-resolution downloads with no handoff step. clientgallery.io if your delivery is a defined event, you send the files, the couple downloads them, and the browsable gallery is what stays online for as long as the account exists. We host JPEG proofs and do not warehouse RAW files or master video, and that is what keeps the price flat.

Job five: selling prints and albums

Plainly: clientgallery.io does not do this at all. There is no print store, no lab integration and no commission, because there is nothing to take a commission on. If print and album revenue is part of how a wedding studio makes money, buy Pixieset, Pic-Time or ShootProof and do not buy us. That is not a soft caveat. It is the single clearest disqualifier on this page.

PlatformCommission on store sales, as published
ShootProofZero on every plan, including Free. "ShootProof never charges a commission on your sales." The published fee list is archiving plus card processing.
Pixieset0% on Basic, Plus, Pro and Ultimate. 15% on Free, calculated "based on the order subtotal, before any discounts, coupon codes, taxes, or shipping fees are applied", and charged in addition to the processor fees, which Pixieset cites at 2.9% plus $0.30 and 3.49% plus $0.49.
Pic-Time15% on Free and Beginner, always, whoever collects. Above that, 8% on Professional and 6% on Advanced when Pic-Time collects the payment, and 0% when you collect it yourself.
CloudSpot15% on Free and Entry. Commission-free on Lite, Pro and Unlimited.
PASS15% on Starter and Basic. 0% store commission on Standard and Unlimited, with a 3% fee when PASS handles the payment.
clientgallery.ioNo store, so no commission and no lab.

Verdict. ShootProof, on the plain reading of its own page: zero commission on every tier including the free one, which no other vendor here matches. Pixieset and Pic-Time are equivalent once you are on a paid tier and collecting payment yourself. The tier that costs you real money is a free or entry plan with a store attached, because 15% of a 2,000 $ album order is 300 $, which is more than a year of any paid plan on this page.

Job six: what a year costs at wedding volume

Assume a working wedding photographer at 25 weddings a year, publishing about 1,000 images per wedding. Arithmetic: that is 25,000 delivered images a year, which as proof JPEGs of about 0.6 MB is roughly 15 GB. On platforms that host full-size JPEGs, the storage the same year consumes depends on your export settings, which no vendor publishes, so the table below prices tiers rather than predicting which tier you land on. Every annual figure marked as arithmetic is the published monthly rate multiplied by twelve, because those vendors publish a monthly rate and no annual total.

picdrop Pro14,99 EUR a month billed annually, 17,99 EUR monthly, netNot published500 GBNot applicable, no store

All figures are in the currency each vendor publishes and are not converted. Pixieset and ShootProof both note that taxes are extra, and picdrop's euro prices are net of VAT. Two costs sit outside the table. ShootProof archiving is billed monthly in arrears at 2.99 $ minimum for 25 GB then 0.05 $ per additional GB, and it is included on the top plan. CloudSpot is running a promotion today, 4 September 2026, of 3 $ a month for the first three months on paid tiers, which changes year one and not year two.

Verdict. At entry level CloudSpot Entry at 72 $ a year is the cheapest paid plan here, but it caps you at 15 galleries and takes 15% of store sales. Among plans with no gallery cap and no commission, clientgallery.io at 100 $ a year and ShootProof's 1,500 photo plan, Starter from 23 September, at 99.99 $ a year are within a cent of each other, and they differ on everything else on this page. For a fuller cost breakdown see the flat-price answer and the Pixieset comparison.

The short answer

If your wedding studio sells prints and albums, buy ShootProof, which charges zero commission on every plan including Free. If you need one unbroken gallery of 1,200 images, or permanent original-resolution downloads with no re-upload step, buy Pixieset on a paid tier. If you are already on Pic-Time Professional or Advanced, its client-selection sync into Lightroom is on your existing bill and you should use it. If what you want is a delivery gallery that never expires under your own brand, one flat price of 10 $ a month with no storage tier to fall down, and client picks that come back into your Lightroom catalog as 3 stars, 5 stars with a Pick flag and colour labels in a collection named after the gallery, buy clientgallery.io and split the wedding day into two galleries of up to 1,000 photos each.

When you should buy an incumbent instead of us

A wedding studio whose revenue includes print sales should not buy clientgallery.io. We have no store, no lab, no product catalog and no order fulfilment, and adding a separate storefront to a gallery that does not have one is a worse setup than buying a platform that has both.

The same applies to an album designer, a CRM with contracts and invoicing, a branded mobile gallery app for the couple, and a studio suite for a team of shooters. Pixieset and Pic-Time sell those; we do not build them. Pixieset also publishes separate Studio tiers, and its terms state that its regular client gallery plans "are meant for individual photographer business use only" and that studios with more than one photographer should be on Studio plans. Pic-Time charges 6 $ a month for each extra brand. If any of that describes your business, one of the incumbents is the right purchase and this page has told you so.

What we are is narrower on purpose: JPEG proof galleries under your own subdomain with no platform branding anywhere the couple can see, sub-galleries inside a gallery, Face Search included, a two-way Lightroom Classic plugin, and one price. Everything the platforms above charge tiers for, we either include or do not offer. The alternatives overview and the Pixieset alternative page lay out the same trade in more detail, and the proofing guide covers the workflow itself.

Frequently asked

What is the best client gallery for wedding photographers?

It depends on the job. ShootProof if you sell prints, because it charges zero commission on every plan. Pixieset on a paid tier if you need one gallery of 1,200 images or permanent original-resolution downloads. Pic-Time Professional or Advanced if you already pay for it and want client selections synced to Lightroom. clientgallery.io at 10 $ a month if you want a branded gallery that never expires, no storage tiers, and picks returned into your Lightroom catalog as stars, flags and colour labels.

Can I deliver a 1,200 photo wedding gallery on clientgallery.io?

Not as one gallery. A gallery holds up to 1,000 photos, so a 1,200 image day is published as two galleries, for example getting ready and portraits in one, ceremony and reception in the other. Pixieset and Pic-Time do not cap photos per collection at all, so if a single unbroken link is a requirement, buy one of those.

What happens to my wedding galleries if I go over my storage limit?

It depends entirely on the vendor. Pic-Time permanently deletes galleries above the cap one week after a drop to Free and 45 days after a paid downgrade, oldest first, and states that once purged for over a week the high res photos cannot be restored. CloudSpot states that if you are over 5 GB when your account moves to Free, its system will remove all data from your account. picdrop deletes nothing but says over-limit files can no longer be downloaded or accessed by third parties such as your clients. Pixieset publishes no rule either way. On clientgallery.io hosted galleries never expire and there is only one plan, so there is no tier to fall down.

Which gallery sends client picks back into Lightroom?

clientgallery.io returns them as catalog metadata: likes become 3 stars, loves become 5 stars flagged as Picks, the client's colour labels become Lightroom colour labels, and everything is gathered into a collection named after the gallery. Pic-Time lists client selection sync on Professional and Advanced only. Pixieset returns a copy-pasteable filename list you paste into Lightroom's Find field, and documents two failure modes of that method: the Contains filter can over-select, and virtual copies are missed.

Does clientgallery.io keep the full-resolution wedding files permanently?

No, and it should not be described that way. The gallery holds compressed proof JPEGs that stay live as long as the account exists. Full-resolution delivery is a separate paid handoff: one ZIP per gallery that stays live for three days each time you post it, re-uploadable any time, with 100 GB of standing ZIPs. Pixieset stores the original file and offers original-resolution downloads on its upgraded plans, which is a genuinely different model.

Can I sell prints through clientgallery.io?

No. There is no print store, no lab integration and no commission. If print and album revenue is part of your wedding business, buy Pixieset, Pic-Time or ShootProof instead. ShootProof charges no commission on any plan. Pixieset charges 0% on paid plans and 15% on Free. Pic-Time charges 15% on Free and Beginner always, then 8% on Professional and 6% on Advanced when it collects the payment.

Is Pixieset still the default choice for weddings?

It is the most recommended, and it wins two of the six jobs on this page: uncapped photos per collection, and permanent original-resolution downloads on paid tiers. It also has the largest documentation gap of any vendor here, because it publishes no rule about what happens to delivered galleries when an account goes over its storage limit or is downgraded, while four competitors publish theirs. Treat that silence as unknown rather than as a guarantee.
