How to Download All Your Photos From ShootProof

ShootProof documents one route to a whole gallery of files, and it runs through archiving. Here is that route, what it costs, and the questions its help centre does not answer.

This page answers the photographer's version of the question, not the client's. You want your own files back out of ShootProof, either because you are moving platforms, because you are tidying an account, or because you want a copy that does not depend on a subscription staying paid.

Everything below was read on 23 September 2026 from ShootProof's own help centre, and every article is listed with its own update date at the end. Where ShootProof publishes no answer, this page says so rather than describing a click path we have not seen documented. An honest gap is more useful than an invented instruction.

The short answer

ShootProof documents a whole-gallery download inside an archived gallery. Its archiving article states that if you do not have space in your plan, or you simply want to access your files and not return the gallery to its live status, you can download individual photos or videos to your desktop, or you can download the entire gallery as a whole, and that those options appear inside each individual archived gallery.

There is a second, narrower route: a Download Link generated on an album, which points at a zip of all the files in that album.

We found no ShootProof help article describing an export of every gallery in an account in a single action. Plan for gallery-by-gallery work, and plan to do it while your plan is still paid.

Route one: download from an archived gallery

ShootProof describes archiving as a way to store backup copies of photos and videos once they are no longer needed for client viewing, and states that original-size files are stored in the cloud and that with one click you can download your files or unarchive an entire gallery. It also states that archiving frees GB space in the account, which matters on the gigabyte-based plans ShootProof moved to on 23 September 2026.

The paths, exactly as ShootProof publishes them:

  1. To archive a gallery: Galleries, then All Galleries, then Actions, then Archive.
  2. To get your files: open the archived gallery. ShootProof states the download options, for individual files or for the entire gallery as a whole, appear inside each individual archived gallery.
  3. To put it back: Galleries, then All Galleries, then the Archived filter box, then Actions, then Unarchive.

Three things ShootProof states about this that change how you plan it. An archived gallery becomes static: you cannot create albums or move photos between albums in it, and it is not live for client viewing. Galleries can be removed from archiving at any time at no charge. And to unarchive a gallery you need enough GB space available in your plan, which is a real constraint if archiving is the thing that made room in the first place.

ShootProof also notes that if the gallery had an expiration date set on it, you may need to set that date into the future when you unarchive. That is a per-gallery setting rather than a platform-wide rule, and ShootProof publishes no general policy on how long galleries stay online, so we are not going to state one.

What that route costs while you use it

Archiving is a paid service, so treat it as a metered step in the export rather than a free one. ShootProof's archiving-cost article gives these figures.

The practical reading: archive in batches you can download promptly rather than archiving the whole account and letting it sit. The charge is monthly and retroactive, so a slow export is a more expensive export.

Route two: the album download link

If you only need one album rather than a whole gallery, ShootProof documents a link generator. Its article on sending a client a download link for an album gives this path: Galleries, then All Galleries, then click the gallery containing the album, then the actions icon on that album in the left panel, then Download Link, then Generate Link.

ShootProof states the link is copied to your clipboard automatically and that it takes the recipient to a zip file of all of the files in that specific album. It is written up as a way to send files to a client, but it is a link, and nothing in the article stops you from opening it yourself.

One related limit from ShootProof's general FAQ, worth knowing if you are thinking about doing this per file: it states that it is not possible to release specific individual files for free download.

What ShootProof does not document

We searched the help centre for download, export, backup and archive on 23 September 2026 and read the articles that came back. These are the gaps, stated as gaps.

  • No whole-account export. No article we found describes pulling every gallery in an account in one action. If one exists in the product, ShootProof does not publish it.
  • No stated resolution. No page we fetched states what resolution a download delivers. The archiving article says original-size files are stored in the cloud, which is a statement about storage rather than about what lands on your desktop. Check one gallery yourself before you rely on it for an archive, and do not take a resolution figure from a review site.
  • No published timing. Nothing we read states how long a large download takes to prepare or whether it arrives by email. Budget an evening per batch and find out on a small gallery first.

If ShootProof publishes any of this later, the fix is to re-read the article rather than to guess from a forum post.

Download before you delete, and before you close

Two ShootProof policies make the order of operations matter more than the clicks.

Deletion is final. ShootProof states that once you delete a file it is completely deleted from your account and cannot be recovered, and that deleting a gallery deletes the files in it, also unrecoverably, along with all gallery visitor information. So never delete to make room for an export. Archive instead, which ShootProof itself suggests as the alternative to deleting.

Closing has its own traps. ShootProof states that only the account owner can close an account, and that it offers no refunds on plan payments, so it asks you to cancel before your bill date. Its plans article puts it plainly: all plan purchases are non-refundable. Moving to the Free plan instead is an option only if your account holds less than 3 GB of photos and no videos. And archiving keeps billing through a downgrade: ShootProof states that if you have archived galleries when you move to the Free plan, you continue to be charged for them until you remove them from archiving and are billed for that usage.

The safe sequence is therefore: archive a batch, download it, remove that batch from archiving, repeat, and only then touch the plan.

If the download is the first step of a move

One thing worth checking before any of this: do you still hold these frames yourself? A gallery you can republish from your own Lightroom Classic catalog never needs to be exported from anybody's platform. For most working studios the genuinely irreplaceable list is short, and it is old.
